Carrefour is a global network of outlets, international hypermarket chain which headquartered in French. It is the largest in the world in terms of size. After Wal-Mart, it is the second largest retail group in the world in terms of revenue. The word Carrefour means “Crossroads” in French.

Three businessmen Marcel Fournier, Denis Defforey and Jacques Defforey opened their first Carrefour store in suburban Annecy near a crossroads, on June, 3rd, 1957. Their slogan was “No parking, no business.”
